Editorial Standards
What PatientGuide.io is
PatientGuide.io is an educational health information site. We explain medical concepts in plain language, with an emphasis on clarity, uncertainty, and practical interpretation — not medical directives.
What we publish
We publish:
- Guides that explain conditions, tests, treatments, and health concepts
- Hubs that organize guides into coherent learning paths
- Posts that explore concepts, evidence interpretation, and health literacy topics
We avoid:
- Personalized medical advice
- "Miracle cure" claims
- Alarmist framing
- Content designed to drive clicks rather than understanding
How we write
Our default style is:
- Clear, structured, and conservative
- Transparent about what is known vs uncertain
- Focused on what patients typically need to understand to have better conversations with clinicians
When clinical decisions depend on individual context (age, pregnancy, comorbidities, medications, or risk factors), we explicitly say so.
Evidence standards
We prioritize evidence in roughly this order:
- High-quality clinical guidelines and consensus statements
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
- Randomized controlled trials (where applicable)
- Large observational studies (with careful interpretation)
- Mechanistic or early-stage research (clearly labeled as preliminary)
We try to state:
- What the evidence shows
- How strong the evidence is
- What remains uncertain or debated
Medical review and updates
We aim to keep pages current. Some pages may be updated more frequently than others, especially when guidance changes or major new research appears.
When a page is reviewed or updated, we may indicate:
- Publish date
- Updated date (when changes are meaningful)
- Last reviewed (editorial review without major changes)
Conflicts of interest and funding
If we ever publish sponsored content or have financial relationships relevant to a topic, we will disclose them clearly on the page.
Corrections policy
If you believe something is incorrect, unclear, or misleading:
- We take that seriously.
- We will review the issue and update the page if needed.
